The Environment

Exide Technologies and ReStore Energy Systems operate with a high degree of commitment to environmental compliance and protection. We carefully manage the environmental performance of all of our operations and pursue continuous improvements as needed.

Exide Technologies is one of the largest secondary lead recyclers in the world. Battery recycling keeps materials in the recycling stream and out of the environment. Recycling batteries reduces greenhouse gas emissions because the recycling operation is less CO₂ intensive than the process of mining and refining new lead. With a total of 10 recycling facilities around the world, Exide is one of the few companies in the stored electrical energy industry with the capability to provide Total Battery Management (TBM) within its own facilities.

We also believe that expanding our efforts in, and investing in, new energy storage technology is crucial to helping customers achieve cleaner, more efficient energy capture, storage and use. Technology and product advancements in renewable energy and lithium ion chemistry have a direct positive impact on fossil fuel usage and emissions, and we are proud of our role in developing energy storage solutions that enhance the reliability and sustainability of the world’s energy sources.
